The Bexley Swimming teams could not be stopped, not even as a winter storm was approaching as the boys and girls teams brought home Central Buckeye League championships Saturday afternoon. This marks the first time that both squads have won the league title in the same season! The league championship also gives the girls team their 4th straight league championship dating back to the 2023 league title when we were a part of the Mid-State League. The girls team won their league title by a resounding margin by scoring a whopping 468 points to distance themselves from runner-up Columbus Academy (218). The team was led by sophomores Katie Drummond and Sophie Dankof who combined to win 7 events, each soring a total of 32 points. The boys team fought back to take their league title from the defending league champions, Columbus Academy, edging the Vikings 344-335 to claim the title. Leading the boys team were sophomore Liam Starkey who placed 2nd in 3 events and scored a total of 25 points. Not to be out done, freshmen Linus Rosenthal & Rocco Saenz scored a total of 24 & 23 points to help lead the Lions. The Bexley Divers also found success at the Central Buckeye League Championships as junior Jackson Monus took home the league title for the 3rd straight season. Monus dominated the field by taking control early and eventually winning by the margin of 540.70-227.60. Sophomore Charlotte Langolf was able to take home 3rd place in diving, scoring a total of 307.40 points. Next up for the swimming & diving teams is Senior Night! Come out and show your support for our seniors on Friday, February 6th. The meet will take place at the Columbus School for Girls Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM with Senior Night festivities preceding the meet.
