Three graduating Lions grinders to play college football
Three seniors at Bexley High School will continue playing football in college after graduation. Those players are:
Will Crall: 6-feet-4, 265-pound tight end will play at The Ohio State University.
David Gitlitz: 6-feet-2, 235-pound linebacker will play at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
Matt Ellinger: 6-feet-2, 275-pound offensive and defensive tackle also will play at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
“I am extremely proud of each of these young men,” said Bexley Head Coach Tom Phillips. “I know each will continue to be successful on the gridiron, but also in the classroom and in life. I expect them to represent our school and our community well in future endeavors.”
Crall, Gitlitz and Ellinger were captains of the Bexley Lions team that recorded a 7-3 record in 2004 and finished the season in second place in the Ohio Division of the Mid-State League.
Crall – who broke Bexley’s single-season pass reception record with 45 – was a 1st team All-MSL selection, and was named “Lineman of the Year” for the league. He also was named 1st team All-Central District, Division III, as well as All-Ohio honors.
Gitlitz – a three-year letter winner at Bexley – was a 1st team All-MSL selection, and a 2nd team All-Central District, Division III player.
Ellinger was a 2nd team All-MSL and 2nd team All-Central District, Division III player.
